What does the free 10-minute call cover?
The free call covers fit and logistics: what you want help with, which service and labs make sense to start, which clinic suits you, and what the next steps will cost. It is a conversation, not an exam, so no diagnosis or treatment decision happens on the phone.
That makes it the right moment to ask money questions. You can find out which labs your concern usually needs, whether anything is bundled, and how follow-up visits are billed, all before you commit to a paid appointment. Our answer on the free men’s health phone consultation lists good questions to bring.
What does the paid consultation include?
The paid consultation is a one-on-one visit with a PA-C or MD that turns your lab results and history into a plan. Labs come first: draws are done on site, same day, at both clinics, and results are usually back within 24 to 48 hours, so the provider has real numbers to work from.
For men exploring testosterone, the TRT pre-screening panel covers total testosterone, estradiol, PSA and a complete blood count, and it is bundled with the first consultation rather than billed separately. The visit itself covers your symptoms, history and goals, what the numbers show, the options that fit, and what monitoring would look like. Our page on what happens at a first TRT consultation walks through it in order, and the TRT consultation page explains how the visit is structured.
What changes the price of a consultation?
The price depends mainly on which service you are being evaluated for and how much testing that evaluation needs. A consultation for wrinkle relaxers needs no blood work, while a weight-loss or hormone evaluation needs a panel and sometimes extra markers.
| Cost driver | Why it matters | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Service line | Each evaluation has different steps | TRT, ED, weight loss, peptides, aesthetics |
| Labs beyond the bundled panel | Extra markers add lab fees | Free testosterone, SHBG, LH and FSH; IGF-1 for peptides |
| Repeat testing | Guidelines may call for a second draw | A second early-morning testosterone test |
| Body composition analysis | Part of the weight-loss work-up | Measures fat and lean mass beyond weight |
| Follow-up visit | Billed per visit, not as a membership | Review after a dose change or new labs |
Repeat testing deserves a note. The AUA guideline asks for two total testosterone measurements on separate early mornings before diagnosing deficiency, so a single draw is not always enough to decide. Ask whether your quote assumes one draw or two.
Is the consultation fee credited if you start treatment?
Ultimate Male has not published a credit policy, so ask about it on the free call and make sure the answer appears in your quote. Whether a credit applies can depend on the plan you choose, since the clinic offers bundle pricing on longer plans while charging per visit otherwise.
The question matters most when you compare clinics. Some clinics fold the first visit into a monthly membership, others charge it separately, and a credit changes the math either way. The fair comparison is the full first-year cost, including the consultation, labs, medication and follow-up visits, rather than the headline visit price alone. Our guide on questions to ask at a men’s health consultation includes the cost questions worth raising.
Your right to a good faith estimate
If you pay directly rather than through insurance, federal rules usually entitle you to a good faith estimate of what your care will cost. The CMS page on medical bill rights explains that providers must generally give one when you ask or when you schedule care at least three business days ahead, and that you may be able to dispute a bill that comes in at least $400 above the estimate.
Booking your consultation in San Gabriel or Downey
You can see a provider at either clinic. The San Gabriel office is at 360 E Las Tunas Dr, Suite 204, open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM. Downey, at 10403 Lakewood Blvd, is by appointment. Call 626-319-5261, book online, or take the free assessment first if you are not sure which service fits.
Consultation fees are generally payable with HSA or FSA funds under IRS Publication 502, which counts payments to medical practitioners and diagnostic tests as medical expenses, and financing is available through CareCredit, Prosper Healthcare Lending and Afterpay. Remember that a consultation is an evaluation. It tells you whether testosterone therapy or another option makes sense, and sometimes the honest answer is that it does not.
