What sets the price of a PicoSure Pro session?
The price of each session comes down to how much skin is treated and how long the treatment takes. A few scattered sun spots on one cheekbone take a short visit. A full-face pass for melasma takes longer and uses more laser time. Ultimate Male gives each patient a personal quote rather than a posted price list, so the figure you see is built around your skin.
| Cost driver | Why it changes the total | What to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Treatment area | A single spot, the cheeks, the full face, the hands or the chest | Is the quote per area or per session? |
| Type of pigment | Sun spots have an end point; melasma tends to come back | Does the plan include maintenance visits? |
| Number of sessions | Set by the depth and density of the pigment and your response | How many sessions does my quote assume? |
| Skin tone | Deeper skin needs gentler settings and sometimes a test spot | Is a test spot part of the first visit? |
| Aftercare | Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen and any topical your provider recommends | Which products are included, and which do I buy? |
| Progress checks | Reviews between sessions to judge how the pigment is fading | Are check-ins priced separately? |
Why do sun spots and melasma cost different amounts?
Sun spots and melasma both show up as brown patches, but they behave differently, and that gap shapes the budget more than any other factor. Sun spots, also called solar lentigines, are fixed marks left by years of UV exposure. Once a spot fades, the same spot does not usually return, though new ones can form if sun damage keeps building.
Melasma is a different problem. The American Academy of Dermatology explains that treatment cannot make melasma go away forever, that it commonly returns with unprotected sun exposure, and that care usually begins with sun protection and creams before any procedure. A melasma budget is therefore a series plus upkeep, not a one-time cost.
Ultimate Male has not published a standard session count for either condition, because the right number depends on what the provider sees at your assessment. Our page on how many PicoSure sessions melasma usually needs walks through what decides it. You can also compare the treatment plans for PicoSure Pro on sun spots and PicoSure Pro for melasma.
Should you pay per session or as a package?
Ask for both numbers, then compare the totals rather than the price per visit. Ultimate Male charges per visit with no membership, and longer plans can carry bundle pricing, so a multi-session plan may cost less as a bundle than as single visits.
A package only saves money if you will use every session in it. Three questions help you decide:
- Does the plan have a clear end point? A handful of sun spots often does; melasma rarely does.
- What happens after the package? For melasma, ask what maintenance would look like and how it is priced.
- Is there flexibility? Ask how unused sessions are handled if your skin clears sooner than expected.
If you are weighing a laser against a chemical peel for the same spots, our VI Peel cost guide breaks down the other option the same way.
What does your quote at Ultimate Male cover?
Your quote starts with an assessment, because the plan depends on what kind of pigment you have. A provider looks at the marks, asks about sun exposure, medicines and past treatments, and decides whether PicoSure Pro is the right tool or whether something else should come first.
The quote then lists the sessions in your plan, any follow-up checks, and the aftercare you will need. Treated spots usually look red or a little darker for several days before they flake and fade; our page on PicoSure Pro downtime covers what that looks like before a work week. If you have a deeper skin tone, read how PicoSure is used on Asian and Latino skin before your visit, since it affects settings and pacing.
Can you use HSA, FSA or insurance for PicoSure Pro?
Generally, no. IRS Publication 502 says you generally cannot count cosmetic procedures as medical expenses, and laser treatment to fade sun spots or melasma for appearance falls in that group. Health insurance does not usually cover it either, and Ultimate Male is a direct-pay clinic that does not bill insurance.
What you can use is financing. Ultimate Male works with CareCredit, Prosper Healthcare Lending and Afterpay, and the financing page explains how each works. Spreading a series over monthly payments is often easier than paying for each session as it comes.
How do you get your exact PicoSure Pro price?
The first step is a free 10-minute call to 626-319-5261. Tell the team where the spots are, how long you have had them, and whether they darken in summer. That is enough to say whether an in-person skin assessment makes sense.
At the assessment, you get a written quote before anything is booked: sessions, bundle options, aftercare and follow-up. If PicoSure Pro is not the right fit for your pigment, you hear that too, along with what else the aesthetics team can offer. When you are ready, you can book your skin assessment online.
