What session series did the studies use?
Mostly three or four sessions, about a week apart. A 2024 systematic review of electromagnetic body contouring, with and without radiofrequency, found the typical protocol was four sessions over two to four weeks, with a range of three to eight, and intensity raised to the maximum. Follow-up ran from one to six months.
Studies of the combined radiofrequency and electromagnetic approach that NEO Slim uses followed the same pattern:
| Area treated | Sessions and spacing in the study | Session length | When results were measured |
|---|---|---|---|
| Abdomen (sham-controlled trial) | 3 sessions, once a week | Not specified | 1, 3 and 6 months |
| Flanks | 4 sessions, about a week apart | 30 minutes | 1 and 3 months |
| Upper arms | 4 sessions, about a week apart | 30 minutes | 1 and 3 months |
| Abdomen, thighs and buttocks (3-person pilot) | 4 sessions, several areas per visit | 30 minutes per area | 3 months |
In the sham-controlled abdominal trial, three weekly sessions produced measurable fat reduction and muscle thickening that held at six months. The flank study and the upper-arm study each used four 30-minute sessions at roughly weekly intervals.
These are research protocols, not Ultimate Male’s plan. The clinic has not published a standard series, so treat the table as a guide to what was tested rather than a promise of what you will need.
What does your number depend on?
Four things, mostly:
- The area. Larger areas such as the abdomen and the flanks may be planned differently from the arms or calves.
- How much fat sits over the muscle. The studies measured changes of a few millimeters. A man with a thin layer may see definition sooner than a man with a thicker one, who may be better served by fat loss first.
- Your goal. Sharper definition in a lean area is a different target from trimming a soft layer at the flanks.
- Your schedule and budget. Up to two areas may be treated in a visit, depending on your plan, which changes how the visits are spaced.
Your provider weighs these at the consultation and sets the plan. If you are still carrying a lot of weight, our page on NEO Slim after weight loss explains why the order matters.
Do arms, glutes or thighs need a different plan from the abdomen?
They may, but the research is thinner outside the abdomen. Most published imaging studies treated the belly, which is why the evidence there is strongest. The upper-arm study is a reasonable guide for arms, and the full-body pilot that treated the abdomen, thighs and buttocks in three people is too small to set a standard. In that pilot, buttock fat barely changed while the gluteal muscle thickened.
Our pages on NEO Slim for the abdomen and NEO Slim for the arms cover what each area involves.
When does a touch-up make sense?
No study has tested a maintenance schedule, so this is a judgment call rather than a protocol. What the research does show is that results were measured as holding at three to six months in several studies. Beyond that, two things undo results: regaining fat over the treated area and letting the muscle detrain.
A touch-up is worth discussing when your measurements start drifting back, not on a fixed calendar. Keeping your training and weight steady does more to protect results than extra sessions. Our answer on the NEO Slim results timeline explains what to measure and when.
Related question: is more sessions the way to get abs?
Not if fat is the problem. Extra sessions cannot remove centimeters of fat that a few millimeters of change will not touch. Our answer on whether body sculpting can give you visible abs explains where the line falls.
Planning your series at Ultimate Male
Your series is built at the consultation, which is required before treatment. The provider checks whether you are a candidate, looks at each area you want treated, and explains how many sessions they suggest, how far apart, and when you will measure progress. Ask for that plan in writing, area by area.
Each appointment takes about 30 minutes, with no required downtime. Our NEO Slim cost page explains how the number of areas and sessions shapes the quote, and you can learn more about NEO Slim body sculpting or start with a free 10-minute call.
