Medical weight loss program cost

Short answer

A medical weight loss program costs the medicine plus the care around it. Month one carries one-time pieces, the medical evaluation, lab work and a baseline body composition scan, so it costs more than later months. After that, the monthly cost is mainly the medication dose plus check-ins and periodic rescans. Ultimate Male does not publish prices and quotes your plan before you book.

What does a medical weight loss program pay for?

You are paying for two things: the medicine and the medical care that makes it safe to use. At Ultimate Male, every plan starts with a medical evaluation, lab testing and a body composition analysis, followed by regular check-ins while you take semaglutide or tirzepatide.

The care side matters because these are serious medicines. MedlinePlus lists common side effects such as nausea, vomiting and constipation, plus warning signs that need urgent care, such as severe stomach pain that spreads to the back or yellowing of the skin. Check-ins exist to catch problems early and to adjust the dose.

Each component and what moves its cost

Component When you pay What moves the cost
Medical evaluation and consultation Month one How complex your history is and how many other conditions are in play
Lab testing Month one, then periodically Which markers your provider needs, such as A1c, lipids, liver and kidney function
Body composition analysis Baseline, then repeat scans How often you rescan
Medication Every month Semaglutide or tirzepatide, the dose step, and the form of the medicine
Check-ins Throughout the program How often your provider needs to see you

The medication line changes the most from man to man. The others are fairly steady once your schedule is set.

Why month one costs more

The first month carries every startup piece at once. The evaluation, the full lab panel and the baseline scan all happen before or at your first dose, and none of them repeat every month.

Month one Month two onward
Evaluation Full medical evaluation Shorter check-ins
Labs Full starting panel Repeated only when needed
Body composition Baseline scan Periodic rescans to track fat and muscle
Medication The lowest starting dose Dose steps up as you tolerate it

That pattern means your first month is the most expensive in care costs, while your medication cost tends to rise over the next few months as the dose climbs. Our guide to your first medical weight loss visit shows what happens at that opening appointment.

The medicine is the biggest monthly line

For a sense of scale, the makers of the brand medicines now publish self-pay prices. As of October 8, 2026, NovoCare lists Wegovy pens at $349 a month for standard doses, with a $199 price for the first two monthly fills at the two starting doses for new patients through December 31, 2026. LillyDirect lists Zepbound at $299 to $449 a month depending on the dose, when higher doses are refilled within 45 days.

Those figures cover the medicine only, not the care around it, and either company can change them. Our pages on semaglutide cost without insurance and tirzepatide cost without insurance break down each dose step.

FSA, HSA and insurance

A weight loss program can count as a medical expense when it treats a diagnosed disease. IRS Publication 502 allows amounts paid to lose weight as treatment for a specific disease diagnosed by a physician, such as obesity, hypertension or heart disease. It does not allow gym dues or diet food.

Ultimate Male bills you directly rather than your insurer, and every visit, lab draw and scan in the program is listed on an itemized receipt for your FSA, HSA or an out-of-network claim. Whether your own plan would pay for the medicine is a separate question, covered in does insurance cover semaglutide for weight loss.

Financing and longer plans

Weight loss is a months-long commitment, so think in terms of a six-month or yearly total rather than a single bill. Bundle pricing applies to longer plans, and you still pay per visit with no membership.

If the startup month is the hurdle, CareCredit, Prosper Healthcare Lending and Afterpay can spread it out. Ask about financing during your call so the numbers are clear before you commit.

When you compare any two programs, line up the same pieces side by side: the evaluation, the labs, the scans, the number of check-ins and the medication at each dose step. A lower headline figure that leaves out labs or follow-up is not a lower total.

How to get your program quote

The free 10-minute phone call is where your estimate begins. Share your weight history, any medicines you take and whether you have recent labs.

After your evaluation, you get a quote covering the startup month and the expected monthly cost as your dose changes, before you book. From there, the medical weight loss program runs on a schedule built around your results and how you feel.

Still unsure? Take the free assessment

Do I have to sign up for a membership?
No. Ultimate Male does not sell memberships. You pay per visit, and bundle pricing is available when your plan runs longer.
Will the monthly cost go down once I reach my goal weight?
It can. A maintenance plan may use a steady or lower dose and fewer check-ins, but stopping the medicine often leads to regain, so your provider plans that phase with you.
Can I bring labs from my own doctor?
Bring them to your consultation. The provider decides whether they are recent and complete enough to start safely, or whether some markers need to be drawn again.
